I know a nice story about this beautiful little tulip. Danique is grown by Van Lierop in Anna Paulowna, who has many more of these beautiful, multi-flowered miniature tulips. Every year I like to go and have a look and so it happened that one Sunday afternoon I wanted to show my American customer Harley, from the company Colorblends, these interesting garden tulips.
The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed it immensely because in addition to the Danique, the Clusiana mixture , the Tinka , the Lady Jane , the Garden of Clusius , the Hilde and many other of these breathtaking miniature tulips were also in full bloom.
It was so beautiful that Harley literally skipped between the hundreds of thousands of blooming flowers. Harley stays in a tourist cottage during his annual visit and we had just done some shopping to restock his kitchen cupboards. So it happened that we suddenly opened a bottle of wine and saw ourselves sitting in the middle of that beautiful sea of flowers drinking a glass of wine from a freshly used coffee cup. This was really a moment to frame, what a joy it was.
But oh dear, suddenly a big car drove into the field at full speed. It was one of the partners, Wim van Lierop, who thought that a few hippies were partying among his Tulips. When Wim came closer and saw that it was us, he slowed down a bit but he still came to see if we weren't making a mess. Sorry Wim, Ron knows we're here, but we liked it so much that we couldn't resist taking the cork off the bottle of wine and enjoying this wonder of the world for a while. Also a glass of wine? He declined, his wife was in the car and they had agreed to visit friends. He wished us much fun, as long as we were careful among his Tulips.
Wim is unfortunately no longer with us, but his son Ron can still tell me in great detail how his father asked him the next day if Carlos was okay. Wasn't he drinking? He was just sitting with a friend in the middle of the day drinking wine between our tulips. Ron and I can still enjoy it, beautiful memories of his father.
But now about the Tulip Danique; little to add to the photos. Simply a very terribly fantastically beautiful Tulip. When it blooms, have a glass of wine and enjoy it.

Tulips
Of all bulbs, the tulip is the best known. Tulip bulbs are widely traded and even play a role in Dutch history. The plant was introduced in the Golden Age in our country.
Planting tulips:
They thrive in full sun but will tolerate light shade. Tulips hate wet feet and require well-drained soil. Never plant tulips in a single row; for best results, plant them in groups of at least 15-20 bulbs. They also make excellent container plants and are great as cut flowers.
