I would be surprised if Provence is not a descendant of the Amaryllis Apple Blossom. In many ways she resembles her; bulb, leaf and flower all show similarities. The biggest difference is in the flower colour, where the Apple Blossom is a bit more sweet and soft with its pink hues, Provence shows a bit more bravado. I also see in my test plantings that Provence always produces a third stem in the size 32/34 cm bulb size. With the Apple Blossom that is more the exception than the rule. But yes, that old blossom is already approaching 65 so we should not hold it against her that she is no longer as sprightly as her daughter. And perhaps Apple Blossom will find a worthy successor in the youthful and fresh-looking Provence.

Amaryllis

The biggest reason I love the Amaryllis so much is because she always performs well. Always? Yes always. No kidding, if you leave them in the box they will still bloom. It seems that it can’t go wrong.

Planting Amaryllis:
Planting an amaryllis is quite easy. Plant the amaryllis bulb in a pot that is half filled with soil, but in such a way that the neck of the bulb protrudes above the soil. Make sure that the soil remains somewhat moist and place the pot in a warm, but not too sunny place, then within six to eight weeks there will be a beautiful amaryllis in your living room.

It is even possible to plant an amaryllis bulb without using soil. Then it needs a vase in which the bulb can stand upright. This way the roots can hang in the water.
