"One of the younger sisters of ‘Amazing Belle’, this one is like cotton candy: soft pink, huge blooms on short stems, and very, very full blooms. Her color reminds me of the roses my grandmother used to grow in her garden in a distant past.

Amaryllis

Unlike most of our flower bulbs, amaryllis bulbs are primarily for indoors. At room temperature in a vase or in a pot: that is when the amaryllis bulb comes into its own. And that is not the only thing that makes this beautiful flower bulb stand out. It is precisely in the winter that it provides some extra atmosphere with its exuberant colours. Because of the temperature in the living room, it seems like spring for the amaryllis and that is why it is not held back by the winter.

Planting Amaryllis:
You plant an amaryllis with the bottom half of the bulb in the soil. Use regular potting soil that is suitable for garden or houseplants. Also make sure you have a spacious pot so that there is enough space around the amaryllis bulb to water it. Do not fill the pot all the way to the edge with potting soil, so that the water cannot run out of the pot when watering.

You can also plant your amaryllis in a vase or glass pot, without soil. The amaryllis will then be forced to bloom on water. You will need a suitable glass vase for this, which will hold the amaryllis bulb firmly while the roots hang in the water. Make sure that the water just touches the bottom of the bulb, which will also stimulate new roots to emerge from the bulb.
