“Come and see, I have something beautiful” was what I read in an unexpected app from bulb grower Smit from 't Zand. “I’ll be with you tomorrow morning around head time” I texted back. When I turned onto the path I saw her standing there, at least that’s what I thought. Among his many new Tulips there was one that was just a little bit bigger than the rest with a truly phenomenally beautiful white colour, while it wasn’t completely white. And indeed, when I walked with Bart and Lex between the Tulips they stopped at this Tulip. Sold I said right away, I want to offer this Tulip to my customers in the Fluwel webshop. Just wait a few more years Carlos, first build up a stock, we actually just wanted to ask you if you could think of a good name for this Tulip. Then we can have her registered. I racked my brains but I couldn’t think of a suitable name for this breathtakingly beautiful Tulip. A few years later Lex told me; Wild Romance, we called her Wild Romance. Bulls-Eye Lex, perfect name. In addition to her romantic appearance there is indeed something naughty, something daring in this Tulip. Her black stamens and that fiery red edge…a Wild Romance.

Tulips

Of all bulbs, the tulip is the best known. Tulip bulbs are widely traded and even play a role in Dutch history. The plant was introduced in the Golden Age in our country.

Planting tulips:
They thrive in full sun but will tolerate light shade. Tulips hate wet feet and require well-drained soil. Never plant tulips in a single row; for best results, plant them in groups of at least 15-20 bulbs. They also make excellent container plants and are great as cut flowers.
