Once upon a time…there was a good friend and bulb grower who asked me to come over and have a look at his new tulip. Brilliant was how he described it and the name was Wedding Gift. When we arrived at his field with pink tulips I was quite surprised because I truly expected Wedding Gift to be a white tulip. But you could not really blame him for that, the bulb grower was a hard working bachelor and did not know much about the finesse of romance yet. But even when she wasn’t white, she was beautiful. What a perky tulip and what an amazing coloured blossoms. In full bloom she is an exciting spectacle of pinks. In the sunlight her petals shine soft pink with silvery rims, when sun does not shine all kinds of reddish hints appear. This stunning tulip certainly will find her way, and the grower nowadays lives together with his girlfriend and they have a beautiful daughter… a fairytale. (But there has not yet been an opportunity to give them a Wedding Gift)

Tulips

Of all bulbs, the tulip is the best known. Tulip bulbs are widely traded and even play a role in Dutch history. The plant was introduced in the Golden Age in our country.

Planting tulips:
They thrive in full sun but will tolerate light shade. Tulips hate wet feet and require well-drained soil. Never plant tulips in a single row; for best results, plant them in groups of at least 15-20 bulbs. They also make excellent container plants and are great as cut flowers.
