The name says it all; a double form of the now 50 year old, well-known garden tulip Shirley. The fact that I no longer offer the single-flowered mother of the Shirley Double is really not because I find her too old and have had enough of her, but I must honestly admit that I find her daughter to have a somewhat more exciting appearance.
Her beautiful play of lines in the mother-of-pearl, rose-shaped flowers is simply fantastic. As the flower ages, the purple slowly tears down, an exceptional spectacle. Shirley Double is a real late bloomer that is excellent to use as a closing of the Tulip flowering season.

Tulips
Of all bulbs, the tulip is the best known. Tulip bulbs are widely traded and even play a role in Dutch history. The plant was introduced in the Golden Age in our country.
Planting tulips:
They thrive in full sun but will tolerate light shade. Tulips hate wet feet and require well-drained soil. Never plant tulips in a single row; for best results, plant them in groups of at least 15-20 bulbs. They also make excellent container plants and are great as cut flowers.
