A tulip that originates from Toyama, Japan and is named after the legendary Zen Buddhist Haku’un. About five hundred kilometers north of Tokyo, between Toyama and Niigata, tulip growing is big business – in case you thought only the Dutch grow them, you are mistaken. This tulip is proof of their abilities: a very reliable tulip in the purest shade of white. When I visited Toyama ten years ago, I took some bulbs home and started to grow a stock of them. The Hakuun tulip brings a soothing, relaxing Japanese atmosphere to your garden.
