If you like big, impressive and colorful, El Nino is the Tulip for you. She is just as big and impressive as her sister, the slightly more famous Elegant Lady, which shows somewhat softer colors.
They are by far the largest tulips we offer. Not only are they at the top in terms of height, the flower size is also unmatched. The beauty of El Nino, and also of Elegant Lady, is that despite their enormous size they do not compromise on elegance. They keep their graceful beauty until the last day of their long flowering. A ripe flower of El Nino that opens in the sunlight shows a spectacular display of color and size.
It is interesting to know that El Nino is Spanish for 'the little boy', but I suspect that this impressive Tulip El Nino is named after the rare natural phenomenon in which the water of the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Peru becomes warmer than normal, causing prolonged rain in South America.

Planting and caring for tulip bulbs
Plant tulip bulbs in autumn in a sunny or lightly shaded position with well-drained soil. Place the bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards at a depth of approximately two to three times the height of the bulb. Leave around 8 to 10 cm between the bulbs.
Plant tulips in groups for a colourful and natural effect. They are also ideal for containers and make wonderful cut flowers. Allow the foliage to yellow naturally after flowering so the bulbs can store energy.

You can order tulip bulbs from us from early spring onwards for the following planting season. We deliver the bulbs in autumn so they arrive at the right time for planting.
