The first real passion for tulips originates from the Turkish empire and dates back to before 1600, before the tulip was introduced in Holland. Especially the then Sultan of Turkey had a great love for the tulip and his favorite was the Lily-flowered Tulip.
Graceful slender shapely long Tulips with pointed curled petals. Like ballet dancers they stood dancing on long thin stems. These Tulips were called Needle Tulips and have unfortunately disappeared completely from the culture.
If you want to know more about the Tulip culture of the past in the Ottoman era, I recommend the audio tour at our do and experience park Land van Fluwel . Here, the entire history of the Tulip is told in a winding forest path.
Our Corps de Ballet mixture gives a good idea of the Tulip that the Turkish Sultan was so fond of. I can understand it, it is a picture from the Arabian Nights.

Tulips
Of all bulbs, the tulip is the best known. Tulip bulbs are widely traded and even play a role in Dutch history. The plant was introduced in the Golden Age in our country.
Planting tulips:
They thrive in full sun but will tolerate light shade. Tulips hate wet feet and require well-drained soil. Never plant tulips in a single row; for best results, plant them in groups of at least 15-20 bulbs. They also make excellent container plants and are great as cut flowers.
