'Big is Better'. I still hear it often from our American customers. Not always agree but sometimes, if 'big' is also breathtakingly beautiful, then they are right. WOW, this really applies to the Baferrari lily. Her flowers are incredibly large and breathtakingly beautiful, actually somewhat reminiscent of the wildly popular Lilium auratum. She is a bit taller and her clear white colour lacks the graceful speckle of the Lilium auratum and the yellow star in her flower shines a bit brighter. Of course, the Lilium auratum has a name and fame but after I have become acquainted with the Baferrari, the choice for me will soon be difficult when the Lilium auratum is available again. It will probably end up like it always does when I am in doubt between one or the other: I will just plant both :-)
By the way, if you know where the name Bafferari comes from or what it refers to or what it means, I would love to hear from you. I always like to look up where strange names come from, I just think it is nice to know. But there is absolutely nothing to be found about Bafferari, so if you do know, I would love to hear from you.

Lilies
The Lily is a real recommendation for the garden, beautiful plants that bloom for weeks and, if they are happy, come back for years. If you have no experience with lilies in your garden, you can always look at our site under Flower bulb information / Lilies. Here you will find an extensive description of How to plant and care for Lilies.
Planting Lilies:
Lilies need fertile, well-drained soil with a thick layer of humus. They like moist, but not too wet soil. Plant them between October and April, even during frost. Lilies can withstand cold well, provided they are not exposed to too much wind and rain. Dig a trench 10-15 cm deep, loosen the soil and add fertilizer or humus if necessary. Plant the bulbs with the point upwards and cover with soil. Keep 25-30 cm distance between the bulbs, plant them in groups of three or five.
