Planting and caring for hyacinth bulbs
Plant hyacinth bulbs in autumn in a sunny or lightly shaded position with well-drained soil. Place the bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards at a depth of approximately 10 to 15 cm, leaving around 10 to 15 cm between them.
Plant hyacinths in small groups among other spring-flowering bulbs or in pots around the house, where their colours and delightful fragrance can be fully appreciated. Allow the foliage to yellow naturally after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for the following spring.

Hyacinth bulbs are planted in autumn. Planting them before winter gives the bulbs time to prepare for flowering in spring.
For many hyacinths, we recommend planting the bulbs around 10–15 cm deep. In areas with severe winter frost, they can be planted a little deeper and covered with at least 10 cm of soil.
Yes. Hyacinths are very well suited to pots and containers. They bring plenty of early spring colour close to the house, where you can also enjoy their characteristic fragrance.
Hyacinths need at least half a day of sun, both for good flowering and for the foliage to ripen afterwards. Many varieties are suitable for sunny or partially shaded positions.
We recommend planting hyacinths in small groups of around three to five bulbs. They combine beautifully with daffodils and early tulips and work well both in informal borders and more formal planting schemes.
