The Anemone blanda is really one of my favorite bulbs. Sprinkle good, dirt cheap and oh such happy flowers in countless quantities.

I myself am fond of the blue of the common Anemone blanda but if you are more charmed by pastels or pink there is now also the Anemone blanda Pink Star. Just as good and just as reliable as the common blanda, only her color is different.

In my garden next to the house, the blandas had, after years of coming back, suddenly almost completely disappeared. Just like that, from one year to the next they stayed away. No idea what the cause was, rotten, drowned, I really don't know.

So not so reliable after all? Yes indeed, two years later they were back in full force, from seed they managed to nestle in my garden again.

Planting flower bulbs

When should I plant my flower bulbs? If you want beautiful flowers such as tulips and daffodils in your garden in the spring, you will need to plant flower bulbs in the fall. This can be done as soon as the leaves fall from the trees. Make sure that the spring bloomers are in the ground before the frost sets in.

Summer bloomers such as dahlias and lilies should be planted in the spring so that they bloom in the summer.

Planting flower bulbs is not complicated at all. The same principles apply in principle:

  • do not plant the bulb too deep in the ground (usually between 8 and 18 centimeters)
  • provide good natural conditions
  • be frugal with fertilizer and let the bulb do its work
