Lorelei

A Peony I will never forget. ‘Carlos, can you check if the Peony Lorelei is being sold in the Netherlands?’ is what White Flower Farm, our American customer, asked us years ago. A quick search of course. We knew someone who knew where Abraham gets the mustard. What? This expensive! We could buy them for the big amount of 100 Euros per piece from a Peony farmer that still offered a few. And they were small as well! Well, that is not expensive, is what we heard from our customer, please buy them for me. Okay… So that was one our first acquaintances with the world of Peonies. 

But yes, I still need to tell you a bit more about this Peony named after the famous Rhine rock. Nice, really, quite beautiful and she grows well and healthily. Her color is what makes Lorelei most special. If I were to describe her for you in the right way, I would have to gather all the fruit platters and seafood buffets to find the similarities for you. From coral red flower buds in her youth to a lovely salmon pink on a later age; Lorelei shows you everything. Luckily, we do not need to get all those lovely dishes… we have the pictures.
