There is not much variation in colour among the large flowering Alliums So Pink Jewel is a very nice addition the assortment. Pink Jewel is bred from Allium nigrum (previously Allium multibulbosum) and shows about the same flower size and blooming time as her mother. So, it is nice to plant them together. Plant her on a sunny location where the soil is on the dry side during the summer. When she fancies her location she re-bloom for many years and form nice clumps.

Allium

Over the last decades the ornamental Onion has become very popular. In the older days we were just dealing with a handful of Alliums, nowadays we count dozens. Not just because she is a nice garden flower, also the flower industry embraced her as a cut flower.

Planting Allium:
Plant an Allium in full sun or light shade in well-drained soil. An Allium is ideal for the wild garden, but also does well in the common border where it considerably extends the flowering season for spring-flowering bulbs. For best results, plant them in groups of five or more. The bulbs can remain in place for years. Only when they grow too close together can you divide the bulbs in the autumn and replant them immediately.
