This Allium is so big, ‘lamppost’ might be a more appropriate name. It doesn’t shine, of course, but certainly illuminates your garden. This giant is the highest plant in the Allium range currently available. So if you are looking for a striking effect in your garden, you should definitely plant Mount Everest. It looks especially spectacular against a darker background.

Allium

Over the last decades the ornamental Onion has become very popular. In the older days we were just dealing with a handful of Alliums, nowadays we count dozens. Not just because she is a nice garden flower, also the flower industry embraced her as a cut flower.

Planting Allium:
Plant an Allium in full sun or light shade in well-drained soil. An Allium is ideal for the wild garden, but also does well in the common border where it considerably extends the flowering season for spring-flowering bulbs. For best results, plant them in groups of five or more. The bulbs can remain in place for years. Only when they grow too close together can you divide the bulbs in the autumn and replant them immediately.
