Eliza Lundy

What type of Peony will this be? Is what I wondered as I saw Eliza Lundy’s flower buds during one of my earlier visits to the Peony display garden. Mysteriously looking dark, like twisted little buns of wool, she displayed her wine-red flower buds. A few days later I had to check twice to make sure that this was the same Peony. She had changed color completely and there was nothing left of her special curly flower buds. But still incredibly beautiful, both color and shape. A short sturdy Peony with a buzzing red.
