Growers Pride

Her name says it all; this is a Daffodil which the grower is proud of. And I can tell you, the grower has every right to be, he has a daffodil to be very proud of. It was early April, and I was meeting flower bulb grower Tinus Teeuwen to come look at his pride. It was one of those days on which April was showing us that she can do bad weather just as well as March. Freezing cold, strong, northeast wind with every hour a hailstorm or some wet snow. But no no, I am not calling to reschedule, I don’t give in so easily. And man was it cold, but Tinus seemed unaffected by it as he proudly showed me Growers Pride. What a beautiful Daffodil; a sea of flowers with a rich golden yellow colour. But what stood out to me the most was that this Daffodil was so unaffected by the bad weather. This is a Daffodil which can easily withstand the unpredictable weather of early spring. A great one for gardens and parks. The Daffodil February Gold, which is quite similar to this one, but is getting harder to grow, can retire. We now have Growers Pride.
