This Fritillaria is very pretty – and just as hard to handle. As naked bulbs tend to dry out easily, we wrap them in moist peat the minute we receive them. Should you buy them, we expect you to unpack and plant them the moment they are delivered at your door. The best spot for them to be planted is in moist, permeable soil, which is rich in humus. Once they take, they will be yours to enjoy for years. And if you are lucky, you may even find a rare white Snake’s Head Fritillary amongst them. The photograph shows the flowers in bloom on the river forelands of the river Ijssel, where they grow in the wild.
