Officially I should write Narcissus x Chico because this nice little daffodil is believed to be a natural hybrid between two species daffodils: Narcissus jonquilla and Narcissus poeticus. Already in 1797 this was published in a botanical magazine but she never has been found in the wild since. But does it really matter, she is just a cheerful and rewarding little daffodil. The fact that she is passed on from generation to generation for over 200 years does a kind of proof she is worth having. When she starts blooming Chico is all yellow but during the blooming period her perianth turns white. When you grow her on a pot and bring her in bloom indoors or in a greenhouse she is white from the start.
