Photographer Eric Breed made this book about the historic tulip collection of his father Kees breed, who saved many tulips from extinction.
The book contains over a hundred images of the elegant heirloom tulip varieties of the past, some are back from 1620 (Zomerschoon), they were here already in the times of tulipmania.
Also the Anne Frank tulip (1960) and the gracefull Picotee (1895) are pictured. There is no flower in the world with such variation in colour and shape as the tulip.
The photographs were taken with using only afternoon natural lights, in the style of the renowned flower painter J. Voerman jr.
