Her name is bigger than her flowers, is what I say when I walk through our field and stop at Golden Spur. She’s been around since 1885 and this is the first yellow trumpet that was grown on a large scale by our grandfathers and great-grandfathers. Compared to modern yellow trumpets, her flowers are small, about the size of February Gold. But still, there’s an old charm in her that seems to be reserved just for the older ones like her. Besides that, she proves to be great at coming back year after year once you plant her.
