Hey, what a coincidence; writing this description I find myself in the Lake of Shadows inn in Donegal, Ireland waiting for the 60st anniversary of my Daffodil friend Brian Duncan. Yes, well read, 60 years of marriage. The good man is in his eighties and still breeding Daffodils with great enthusiasm. Every year he promises his wife Betty to cut down but people who know Brian also know that slowing down is not in Brian’s dictionary. If you know that once you pollinate a Daffodil, it will take 6 year before you see the seed to produce a flower, you know that we are dealing with an optimist poured out of the purest water. In my eyes Brian Duncan is the Master breeder of Daffodils. Among all breeders he named the most Daffodils, the numerator shows more than 800 varieties. One even more beautiful than the other. Also this Mallee, a delightful bright pink Daffodil with a fresh-looking split corona that sprawls gracefully over her crisp white perianth. Another first-class Daffodil of Brian that catching everyone’s attention once in full bloom.
