A wanna-have among miniature Tulips. What a nice and special little Tulip. The Alba Coerulea Oculata is a rare form of the species Tulipa humilis. The species Tulips humilis has sometime some variation in her colour and very seldom you might find a white one. Over the last century only a few are found and this Alba Coerulea Oculata is the most reliable one for the garden. She was introduced by the late flower bulb merchant Van Tubergen who found her in Iran in the early nineteen hundreds. For a long she has been on the market under the name Tulipa pulchella Alba but nowadays her official name is Tulip humilis Alba Coerulea Oculata.
Do not plant her in direct sunlight, she doesn’t fancy the heat. Her leaves will shrivel when she is in full sun at midday. Try to find her a somewhat cooler spot in the garden, not too dark but also not too sunny.
