My father started collecting daffodils in the late seventies. Back then quite a few experienced bulb breeders visited our home, bringing with them old and very special varieties grown by their fathers, along with their memories of those days. Some varieties were over a hundred years old. I took an instant liking to some of them and decided, as they had proven to be fine species, to grow a stock of them. Occasionally you may find them in an old wood wall or a farm garden – beautiful old-fashioned and cheerful little flowers of varieties that are excellent perennializers.
