‘I have another old daff, really something for you,’ said daffodil grower Frans Veul from Anna Paulowna to me when visited me in my warehouse where I was picking out daffodils. Without waiting for a response, he threw two 25 kg net bags on the table (this is no hard task for him, seen the fact that he looks like he can carry a 1 by 1 meter bulb box through the warehouse without using the forklift). He told me her name was Trident, and she was as old as the road to Methusalem. I thought this was interesting, so I hit the books to see if there was anything else to find about this daffodil. But no matter where I looked, there was no information to be found about the Daffodil Trident. Maybe this is the wrong name, or perhaps she has been registered wrongly. If you happen to know more, I would love to hear from you. But, correct name or not, when she came in bloom this spring she was more than worth it. A good and healthy grower, which I’m very happy to offer.
