The Latin saying for ‘seize the day’ and as you can see in the pictures, I once seized a bouquet of seize the day. I had to drive all the way to Egmond aan de Hoef for it, a good half an hour from our house. However, I did it gladly because this daffodil had been on my wanting list to offer in the Fluwel website for quite a while. She is great. I was pleasantly surprised when grower Jan de Waard called me to look at this Daffodil. ‘I bought a new variety Daffodils’ he told me, ‘I would like to know what you think and if you might be able to sell them’. When he mentioned that it was a ‘Lace’ seedling, I immediately knew which Daffodil he was talking about. ‘Lucky bastard!’ I said to him, ‘I would have loved to have this one as well; beautiful, richly flowering and healthy growing Daffodil with a unique flower. Can I offer her in my web shop?’ ‘Of course, that’s why I called you’.
Carpe Diem is made of the same material as A Million Kisses and Besame Mucho, just as richly flowering and grateful in the garden. When her flowers first open, she shows a bright yellow colour, which during her long flowering period, turns in to a creamy white.
