Most flowers try hard to be pretty. Not Allium Hair. When flowering starts, its threadlike petals are short and messy. Soon they grow into a punk hairdo. What you see are baby bulbs, piling up at the end of the stem together with the onset of a bit of leave. Once ‘flowers’ are in full bloom, they roll onto the ground, with the stem, and continue to grow.
